Stock Blocking Procedure
This article explains what the Stock Blocking template does and how to use it.
Stock Blocking template
Learn how the Stock Blocking template helps you block suspect stock, record why, and follow up with CAPA and a disposition decision in AlisQI.
The Stock Blocking template gives you one place to record stock that must be held back, for example after a failed inspection, a customer complaint, a supplier non-conformance, expired shelf life or suspected contamination. Each block records what is blocked, where it is, how much and why, until a disposition decision is made. QC inspectors and warehouse or production operators log the block; quality managers review it and decide what happens next.
What's included
Each stock blocking record captures:
- Date and time the issue was detected
- Location of the stock
- Product and batch or lot
- Quantity affected
- Block category (the reason for the block)
- CAPA follow-up
- Disposition: rework, release, scrap or return to supplier
How it works
- When you detect a problem with stock, create a new stock blocking record.
- Fill in the date and time, location, product, batch or lot, and quantity affected.
- Save the record. The stock now has a blocked status and appears in the overview of blocked stock. You can print a hold label to mark the goods physically.
- Enable CAPA follow-up from the record to start an investigation and corrective and preventive actions for this block.
- When the investigation is resolved, a quality manager reviews the case and confirms the disposition.
Expected result: Every block has a complete record of what was blocked, by whom, when, why, and what was decided.
Adapting the template
- Adjust the block categories and disposition options to the terms your organization uses
- Set up workflow notifications so the right people are alerted to a new block, based on category
- Optionally, link batches to a central orders table instead of entering them by hand
